William Testerman
William Testerman earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Castleton University and his Master of Arts degree in International Economics from the University of Pittsburgh. This solid mathematics, financial, and economics background led to a broad variety of opportunities, which together comprise Bill’s 25 years of health science experience within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical technology, and health care science sectors. In addition, Bill has lent his wealth of knowledge in these areas to two separate US Senators.
In 1992, Bill began service as a Legislative Assistant for US Senator Jim Jeffords, providing much-needed insights, research, and counsel that enabled countless pieces of legislation to serve their designed purpose. He established himself as a vital part of Senator Jeffords’ staff over his four years in the office and secured a position as Legislative Director for US Senator Bill Frist, MD in 1996. Over his years directing Senator Frist’s staff, Bill facilitated the establishment of the overarching legislative agenda and served as a crucial touchpoint between legislative staff and the Senator.
Beginning in 2001, Bill served as a Director of Global Health Sciences at Ernst & Young. Throughout his seven-years with the company, he worked with both Global Biotechnology Centers as well as Global Pharmaceutical Centers. While there, Bill’s focus remained largely on connecting innovative clients with the people who needed biotech and pharmaceutical services the most. Perhaps most important, however, are the personal commitment to exacting ethical global change and the many relationships Bill built during this time, which later served to enhance opportunities for facilitating innovations within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
In 2008, Bill became President and CEO of Tesaro Group, focusing on generating innovations in certain regulated sectors, including energy, health, and food. While with Tesaro Group, Bill’s team facilitated the development of an oncology and cardiovascular-focused 3D medical software – the resulting advanced medical technology provides enhanced imaging for both medical specialties. In addition, Bill fostered alternative development of a computational method for protein pocket compound strategies (APoC) with an outside clinical research organization. This development occurred on a cost-sharing basis between both pharmaceutical corporations and investors.
As Chief Investment Officer & Managing Director at Arias Capital Partners, Bill assumes lead on Health, Food, and Energy. His advisory and investment leadership at Arias Capital involves raising capital, executing clinical development, and mitigating company response to regulatory agencies in both the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors. Bill’s current focus is pursuing strategic investments in a number of small companies that feature active technology and unique products – these companies provide high growth potential in both COVID and Post-COVID business environments.
Bill’s commitment to ethical, innovative change in biotechnology, medical technology, and pharmaceuticals carries over to his service towards a number of volunteer and non-profit organizations. However, his finest achievements are arguably those of a father and family man. In his free time, Bill enjoys spending time with his daughter. Together, the two enjoy participating in water sports as well as running and viewing the beautiful mountain scenery on frequent mountain hikes.
